The cover are was created by scanning in a nautilus shell that had been sawn in half lengthwise. My scanner in those days had those big skuzzy ports, but it worked incredibly well. The cover is textured with columns in the white paper printed offset with deep blue.

This was the first book published through Egress Studio Press that was for a Washington State poet. James Bertolino was the perfect choice. 26 Poems From Snail River is a selection from the best of the 1995 Quarterly Review of Literature award-winning Snail River. Bertolino is one of two poets to have won this international competition twice.

With 500 copies printed in 2000, this book is now out-of-print. We will soon be recording the entire book with the voice of the poet, James Bertolino.

Jim is fond of all of nature, all people, almost everything. He enjoys walking our dog Blue out beyond the pond and into the woods, where he often stops to write a poem or two. He is famous now for his after-lunch naps with our cat named Stitch.
